Empowering African kids, one library at a time!
Books Are Power's mission is to create a culture of literacy and empower African kids - the next generation of parents, entrepreneurs and leaders - by establishing libraries and computer labs in primary schools and community centers.
Books Are Power's target population is primary school age kids in the English speaking countries of Africa. Our libraries serve over 20,000 girls and boys, ages 3 through 18 and our computer labs serve over 8,000 people of all ages. Our libraries and computer labs are located in big city slums and impoverished rural areas in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and The Gambia.
